According to a poll by Young Money, more than three in four students feel they don’t know enough about personal finance.Video: Play Would You Rather w/ JUSTIN LONG (plus BLOOPERS)That’s why DoSomething.org and H&R Block Dollars & Sense are joining forces for the second year to help by giving teens personal finance tips through a hilarious campaign called “Would You Rather.”“Would You Rather” uses an interactive SMS text message experience that asks teens to choose between multiple penny-pinching situations. Since, on average, teens send more than 3,300 texts a month and text messages have a 99 percent open rate, it’s an effective medium to reach young people.Beginning January 28, teens can challenge their friends to the experience and engage in a conversation around crazy ways to save money. For example, participants will be asked, “Would you rather A) take a date to the drive thru; or B) pick your date up on your Razor scooter?” The experience is followed by action steps and tips to get teens thinking about and saving for their financial future.To help raise awareness of the issue and encourage young people to participate in the campaign, actor Justin Long recorded a public service announcement.“I love this campaign because the situations are hilarious and it makes me want to learn how to save some cash,” said Justin Long. “My favorite scenario: What would you rather do to save money? Only buy used underwear from a thrift shop or never wear underwear? Guess which one I picked…”Together, DoSomething.org and H&R Block are making an “adult” topic more accessible for young people.“Would You Rather’ provides a fun way for teens to interact with friends and think about the realities of their financial future at a young age,” said Kathy Collins, chief marketing officer at H&R Block. “We’re taking two topics many of us would rather avoid thinking about – saving and financial fitness – and making them relatable.”To participate in the campaign, teens can text “START” to 38383 or visit dosomething.org/wyr.

Sarah Tew/CNET In London last week to speak at a video games industry conference, I found myself in Harrods, the famously extravagant department store with everything from gourmet food to expensive suits to collectible coffee table books the size of actual coffee tables. (Editor’s note: Apple unveiled a new Mac Pro at WWDC on Monday.)Naturally, I had to check out the technology section, a long series of corridors filled with high-end gear, from £700 David Lynch Edition Bang & Olufsen speakers to a £1,200 Alligator skin iPhone case.Read more: Meet the new Mac ProIn the dedicated Apple nook of the store, I saw an old friend that I had not expected to. Right next to all the relatively new iPad Pros and Apple Watches, I saw a prominently displayed Mac Pro desktop. It looked just as it had in 2013, when that bold design launched, and yes, Harrods was selling it at its full price ($3,000 and up). Long before butterfly keyboards and Touch Bars, the Mac Pro was the Apple design it was popular to hate on. The design was radical for 2013, coming after years of traditional desktop towers. At the time, I found the change bold and forward-looking, but in hindsight, it was too focused on aesthetics and not enough on functionality. With extremely limited upgradability compared to the old tower design, the Mac Pro could not keep up with the growing demands of creative power users in an evolving world of 4K/8K video, HDR photography and VR/AR development. Get a look at that interior. Sarah Tew/CNET At the time, I said, “Apple’s new Mac Pro is a stunningly fresh take on the desktop computer. But it’s probably not for you.” One reason was that nearly any expansion would have to happen via externally attached Thunderbolt devices, and even in casual use, all those cables quickly added up to a cluttered workspace.From my original review: “Components are built around something Apple calls a unified thermal core. A small lock switch is moved to the unlocked position, and the entire outer sleeve of the system lifts off, exposing the interior… the idea being promulgated here is that your expandability should flow outward, not inward.”But it was that very thermal core that prevented the Mac Pro from keeping up customers’ needs, especially for graphics power. By 2017, the company had essentially thrown up its hands in the matter, giving the same trash can chassis a reasonable spec upgrade, but then shifting the conversation to a completely different future version of the Mac Pro desktop that would trade the now 6-year-old design for something new and modular. Sarah Tew/CNET We’ve been waiting ever since, and in the meantime, Apple execs have dropped a handful of hints, most centered on a “not now,” “not yet,” “maybe next year,” message. An upgraded all-in-one desktop, called the iMac Pro, has attempted to fill some of that marketplace hole, but that system has similar expandability limitations and is also based on a very mature iMac design (plus you’re stuck with a computer and display built into a single unit). This week’s WWDC keynote may be where that wait ends. While the Harrods sales staff may not have read into it yet, the Apple rumor mill is all-in on a new the Mac Pro at least making a preliminary appearance at Monday’s keynote. Viacom reached a distribution deal with FuboTV, which will soon add an array of the conglomerate’s networks — including Comedy Central, BET, MTV and Nickelodeon — to its live TV internet streaming service.Viacom is now on four “virtual pay-TV” platforms: Dish Network’s Sling TV, AT&T’s DirecTV Now, Philo and FuboTV. Viacom remains absent from Google’s YouTube TV, Hulu’s live TV bundle and Sony’s PlayStation Vue (which dropped the conglomerate’s lineup more than two years ago).For Viacom, there’s some urgency in getting on OTT platforms as traditional cable and TV satellite distributors have seen their subscriber losses accelerate. Last month it spent $340 million to buy PlutoTV, a free TV-like streaming service, and its Viacom Digital Studios division now owns VidCon and digital network and studio Awesomeness.For now, FuboTV is relatively small in the grand scheme of things. Launched in 2015 as a sports-centric OTT TV service, the New York-based company said it had just shy of 250,000 paid subscribers at the end of September 2018. It has raised $150 million from investors including AMC Networks, 21st Century Fox and Sky (now owned by Comcast).Viacom shows that will be available to FuboTV customers include Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah” (pictured above), MTV’s “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” and Nickelodeon’s “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”Under the deal with FuboTV, Viacom’s nine core media networks – BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Paramount Network, TV Land and VH1 – will soon be included in FuboTV’s base package, priced at $45 per month.In addition, an expanded suite of Viacom channels will be available in the Fubo Extra premier package ($50 monthly).
