Local student hopes to help Calgarians in need of latenight snacks

Calgarians who crave a late night snack, but are too lazy or drunk to head to the store or burger joint, are in luck. A local university student is launching QuikSnax next month. Zach Shapiro, the man behind the business, told 660 NEWS, he’ll take orders for a bag of chips, some pop, or maybe even a burger from Peter’s Drive In and deliver it to your front door. “I think this is the hole in the market, basically, that I’m selling,” Shapiro said. “It could be that due to Calgary’s size, this project or similar conveniences are unavailable. Calgary’s the largest city in North America, 825 square kilometres I believe. Bigger than New York, which is 791. So it could be due to the geographical size that it’s unreliable, but we’ll find out.”He added, there isn’t anything similar in the city right now. “I’ve been in the position a lot of times that I’d use a service like this. I thought, if I had a nickel for every time I wanted snacks late at night but couldn’t or didn’t want to go out and get them,” he said. “And then I realized I could have other peoples’ nickels.” The business launches February 5.For more information, head to QuikSnax’s Facebook page.
